This year, for ‘Ask A Curator Day’ we decided to tip our hat to curators who work in all spaces of culture: public spaces, private spaces, as well as institutions.
In 2022 the event was renamed ‘Ask A Museum Day’ to acknowledge the multitude of staff and volunteers which make museums the cultural institutions that they are. While it was renamed for positive reasons, we wanted to recognise that art isn’t only present and admired within museums and traditional institutions.
In celebration of curators, we interviewed some of our talented peers about what it’s really like to be a curator.
Art Break was an interview series that took place on Instagram Live every second Wednesday at 2 pm during Australia’s COVID19 lockdowns. Us in our office. Artist in their studio. Chatting about what they’re working on and how they are staying sane during a pandemic. These conversations were a 15-minute time out from the day and fully embrace the picture and sound quality of social media casts.
